In all my years of riding the best picture I have of me and a horse is a grainy, slightly out of focus, taken-at-a-distance-and-on-a-cell-phone snapshot my mom took of my favorite mare Sasha and I at our first horse show together. Despite its lack of quality, I have cherished that picture for years because it captures so many memories - memories of trotting along a backwoods trail together, memories of mucking out the barn mid-summer so I could earn more riding time, memories of the time Sasha thought there was a bear but didn't buck me off. Now, years later, I've grown up, moved away, gotten married and from time to time still pull out that grainy cell phone shot and reminisce on those moments. Because a picture captures a story. And keeps telling that story every time you look at it.
